On Friday 18th March the coastguard received a VHF radio call from a leisure cruiser. It had suffered complete engine failure and was stranded at sea seven and a half miles south of Littlehampton.

The Atlantic lifeboat launched immediately and headed out in overcast weather. They came alongside the vessel and the crew rigged a tow line to the boat in preparation for the tow back to shore.

The vessel with two men onboard was towed back to harbour and to the safety of its moorings. The owner of the cruiser kindly thanked the crew for their assistance and made a donation to the RNLI.
